Quick Tips on Marketing to Developers


Some say marketing is content, while others say marketing is conversation and stories. But what if you’re marketing to developers? According to Jeff Lawson at Twilio, “you have to talk to developers in a different way to make your message stand out and to make them understand what you’re providing for them and why they should listen to what you have to say.”

Lawson, who presented at Mashery’s Business of APIs conference in San Francisco last October, provided some great insight on what it means to ‘market’ to developers (Aka “Doers”) including how to reach them, how to provide information to them and what entices them to work with your APIs.
