COMCAST'S MASHERY-POWERED APIs SPEED INTEGRATIONS, DELIVERING BETTER USER EXPERIENCES
It used to take months for Comcast groups to share resources they needed to build great user experiences. With a Mashery-powered API, it now takes 30 minutes. In this Q&A, Comcast Principal Architect Agustin Schapira explains what that means for Comcast and its viewers.

COMCAST
Why did you launch an API at Comcast?“Comcast is one of the world's leading media, entertainment and communications companies. Until recently, however, it was difficult and time-consuming for groups within the company to share data and solutions. Integrations would take months, which is a long time in a world where consumers are constantly demanding new, compelling user experiences. Since the integrations were rarely designed to be reusable, each follow-on project had to start from scratch. APIs change all that." How do groups inside Comcast build new products with APIs?“We built a common API infrastructure using Mashery. Now, in less than 30 minutes, any group within Comcast expose data and services to any other group. Thanks to Mashery, each API service is outfitted with on-demand dynamic scalability, access controls, rate limits, scalability, and reporting." What have Comcast APIs made possible?“Today, Comcast's iPhone and Android mobile apps deliver advanced viewing functionality through our APIs, as does Xfinity.com. Comcast's in-house developers can work faster and more efficiently, because if they know how to access one Comcast API, they can access all of them. That's very different from how it used to be. In the last year, our API traffic is up 100x. The goal is that APIs become our infrastructure, like the air, so that everyone uses them but no one notices them."
