Mashery Announces Dates & Lineup for Annual Business of API Conferences
SAN FRANCISCO, CA--(Marketwire - September 29, 2010) - Mashery, the leading provider of API management and strategic services, today announced an impressive lineup of speakers for the company's series of three 2010 Business of API Conferences. Speakers include over 20 leading organizations including Netflix, USA Today, Twitter, Bluefly, FanFeedr, CityGrid, the City of San Francisco, The Guardian and the City of London.
Mashery hosts the conferences to help businesses understand how they can leverage APIs for new revenue opportunities, while developing new sales channels and distribution models to extend their reach across devices, markets and the Web. Attendees will hear from a variety of companies at all stages of the game, as well as industry leaders, partners and developers.
Companies that have developed robust API programs have proven that APIs are about a new approach to business. They represent a modern twist to channel strategy and are about fostering a community of developers who, when incented correctly, will proliferate brands well beyond the walls of their own domain. APIs provide the component behind the vast majority of successful apps. According to recent research from mobile research firm research2guidance, the number of downloaded apps jumped to 3.9 billion in the first six months of 2010 from 3.1 billion during all of 2009.
Mashery currently services over 100 brands and powers more than 10,000 apps for companies across a wide variety of industries, including Best Buy, Netflix, The New York Times, CityGrid® and Quova.
"The world has moved from a Web-driven economy to an app economy, with APIs becoming a critical driver for new revenue and customer engagement," said Oren Michels, CEO of Mashery. "Businesses need to develop strategies to stay competitive in the increasingly collaborative, open marketplace. This year's BAPI conference will explore the business of APIs led by a powerful group of speakers who will provide real-world insight into how APIs are fueling their businesses."
